Cider Bourbon Sauce

INGREDIENTS

cup (500 ml)
apple cider
1/2
cup (130 ml)
bourbon or rye whiskey

tbsp (30 ml)
cornstarch

cup (250 ml)
light brown sugar, firmly packed

pn
salt

tbsp (60 ml)
unsalted butter

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine sugar and cornstarch in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in apple cider and salt.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil, stirring constantly for 4 minutes or until thickened.
  4. Reduce heat to medium, stir in butter and bourbon and simmer until well blended.
  5. Drizzle over warm pie slices.
  6. Can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
